Design Rationale
For this assignment I was trying to go for the most “Green Day” like poster that I could accomplish. I wanted the poster to scream the band and to resemble what the band has done previous times. I went for a color scheme that represents the band the most which is very random vibrant colors that don’t make too much sense. Green Day as a band is a band that doesn’t care about rules and order so I felt that this poster was a good representation of that. I did have some trouble coming up with design ideas that kind of combined the band as a whole since they have been around for such a long time so I went for the American Flag with a green brick background since I feel this is a classic Green Day feel. Also the bands most famous song is “American Idiot” so the American flag represents that well. I also drew my favorite band logo of theirs which is a hand holding a grenade heart. I had to add in that logo because it’s part of the band. I have never designed a band poster before so this assignment was fairly new to me but I enjoyed the process because I picked my favorite band. My favorite part about the project was that we could pick any band we wanted and had the freedom of being as creative as we wanted. I think I am most proud of just the whole design of the poster as a whole and how it all came together pretty nicely. I had no real set plan on what I was going to do and kind of just going with the flow but I feel that mindset worked in my favor. If I had more time I would of added probably the band members to the poster as well!
